Afterburn 2026 will take place November 13–15 at Camp La Llanada, and we’re excited to begin building the next chapter of this event with you.
Each year our community gathers to create something temporary, powerful, and entirely our own. Afterburn has always been about participation, creativity, and the magic that happens when people show up ready to contribute.
And this year’s theme invites you to go even further.
2026 Theme: Transcend
To transcend is to rise beyond limits — to move past what confines us and step into something greater.
It’s the moment when art becomes experience. When music becomes movement. When strangers become community.
This year we invite you to explore transformation in all its forms.
What does it mean to move beyond the ordinary? To shed old identities? To evolve, elevate, and become something new?
Maybe transcendence looks like a phoenix rising from the ashes. Maybe it’s cosmic ascension, spiritual awakening, or radical self-expression breaking through boundaries.
However you interpret it, Transcend is an invitation.
Build something that lifts people up. Create art that transforms a space. Bring performances, rituals, camps, and experiences that help us cross the threshold from the everyday into something extraordinary.
At Afterburn, the magic happens because you bring it with you.

Get Involved
Planning for Afterburn 2026 is already underway, and there are several ways you can help shape this year’s event.
Department Lead applications are currently open for those who are ready to step into a leadership role and help coordinate the teams that make the event possible.
We’re also actively seeking new members for the Board of Directors (send your declaration of intent to board@burntoranges.org today!). If you’re passionate about supporting the long-term future of the event and helping guide its direction, we encourage you to consider applying.
For those who want to lend a hand during the event itself, general volunteer sign-ups will open approximately 60 days before the event. Whether you’re helping build, supporting operations, or contributing your skills in another way, volunteering is one of the best ways to connect with the community and be part of bringing Afterburn to life.
Afterburn exists because people like you choose to participate.
